Dear Lisa, I heard you on health radio .com talking about the muffin top and it's relation to adrenal exhaustion. My question is how do i support my adrenals? I am a 56 yr old post menopausal woman with osteopaenia. I had been on actonyl for the last years. My bone density increased when I first started taking it but this year it had decreased despite the actonyl, calcium and vit D etc. I have decided not to take the drug anymore as I don't think it's helping. I take a supplement DHEA 25mg. Is this the right thing to do and can you recommend other adrenal support methods. Thank you Carmel
Hi Carmel. Thanks for writing, and congratulations for being proactive about your health. I won’t speak to your decision to stop taking your medication, as that’s between you and your doctor. However, make sure you are taking vitamin K2, as it helps transport calcium into bone. As for your adrenals, you want to be you are getting adequate vitamin C. You can also try adaptogens like ashwaghanda, Siberian ginseng, rhodiola, and shisandra. These herbs help your adrenal glands adapt to stress. Best wishes on your health journey. Lisa
