REJOICE

I realized today that sometimes we’re so focused on achieving the goals we set out for ourselves, ever mindful of “what’s next?”, that we don’t stop and celebrate our accomplishments.

Today, for example, I sent out my February newsletter (go here to join the Live Vibrantly community if you’d like to be in the loop!), I exercised, I edited an article, I did substantial work on a book I’m writing, listened to a teleseminar – and when I stopped for lunch, I contemplated how I would fill my afternoon. Whaaaa? It was then I realized I hadn’t given myself any time to enjoy my morning’s productivity.
You see, I like to use my day’s well. At bed-time, as I write it in my gratitude journal, I feel most grateful when I know I didn’t waste a precious moment. (I don’t refer to relaxation here, as that’s a great use of time each day!) Instead, I refer to excessive FaceBooking, surfing, watching reruns on television and other time-burners. To me, a productive day is an awesome day!
So, when I realized how well I’ve used the day so far, I lingered over a cuppa tea.
Make sure you take time to savour your accomplishments, too. How can you treat yourself for a job well done? Fitting in exercise? Getting along with your teenager? A day without a cigarette – or an hour without a cigarette, depending on where you are on your journey? It may be early in the season for stopping to sniff any roses, but maybe your day’s accomplishment is worthy of a bouquet of cut flowers for yourself? It is at least worthy of some conscious acknowledgement from you!
Give yourself a pat on the back.
Until next time,
Let’s all walk the talk!
Lisa
