Daily health tip #18
Lighten Up: Eliminate Clutter
When you’ve survived a stressful day at work, you can’t wait to relax in the sanctuary you call home. But your blood pressure isn’t likely to drop if you step in the front door only to trip over toys and dirty laundry.
No doubt about it, we all have too much stuff. Clutter, in the form of over-flowing closets, unfinished projects, and too many distractions, is a drag on our energy. Instead of feeling productive, we feel like the work will never be done.
If you’d like some tips on reducing your clutter, go here. (But only go after you finish reading today's blog!)
But right now, I’d like to focus on another form of clutter: brain clutter. How many thoughts are you holding onto in that pretty little head of yours that are a total waste of your time and energy? How many of those thoughts drag you down and depress you instead of lifting you up and inspiring you?
That’s what I thought. Here’s a suggestion for lightening up:
The next time you catch yourself having a thought like: I can’t do this. I screwed up again. I have no willpower. Why am I such a coward? I don’t deserve it. Stop yourself, and replace that thought with a healthy one that will refocus your brain and energy on your dreams and goals: I am happy to creating a healthy body. I can do anything I choose. There is always a way. Replace: This isn’t going to work with How can I?...
It’s astounding how that tiny shift in thinking helps you lighten your mood. Try it, and please share how it changes your perspective!
Until tomorrow,
Let’s all walk the talk!
