'Tis the season for sneezin'.
I recently traveled to the Royal Society of Medicine in London, England to learn from experts in respiratory infections, immunology and virology, who were sharing recent findings about Echinacea purpurea. Here’s what I found out:
In the world’s largest Echinacea double-blind, placebo-controlled study using 755 volunteers, researchers at Cardiff University, UK found that the standardized extract of Echinacea purpurea found in Echinaforce® reduced the frequency and severity of the common cold, and they found that it’s safe for daily use up to four months – which would get you through cold + flu season.
Other research showed that the Echinaforce® extract stopped the influenza virus at the earliest possible step, meaning it prevents infection. And here is the key part: the Echinacea purpurea extract was most effective in those people who were most susceptible to getting sick.
In case you’re wondering, the researchers were specifically asked whether the extract was safe for those with auto-immune conditions, and we were told that the Echinaforce is immune-modulating not immune-boosting.
